Learning Object

For my learning object I chose to explore Google sites. I chose this because learning to paint through the method I chose does involve some research, however it does not necessarily involve a lot of writing or gathering of information. I thought the other apps which were very good methods of displaying or finding information were a bit less useful than some of the Google options I had. I decided to look at Google slide, which is one of the many Google platforms available. I think Google is a great tie between research (accessing a search engine), collaboration (drive) and organization (slides, documents etc. ways to display/organize work). Specifically, looking at Google sides as a potential learning object for my task because it would allow any individual to show their pictures (paintings) in the slide followed by slides for reflection or descriptions. I would also allow the individual to document their process through progress. One would be able to show photo by photo demonstrating their increasing skill or practicing specific skills. I think this platform allows for a good balance of reflection (writing) and photos (displaying work). This platform also allows for collaboration or viral sharing, meaning the student could just invite people to the page and they would be able to view it from their computer and if given access they would also be able to add to it. Google slides also allows the individual to have fun with it, after they have made their points and displayed their work they can go through and edit and add colourful slides, pictures and make fun transitions.

  1. Going through the different platforms to create a learning object through was a bit daunting at first. So many options and some were so new to me I was confused. Also seeing as I was doing painting which is more of a process documented through visuals rather than writing as most of the other platforms focused on, I thought I would not find one that really worked with my focus. However, I think Google Slides is a great way to show visuals and a bit of information, reflection and description in a way you can share with all.
